THE OBSERVER X VALSTAR

Valstar unveils a new collaboration with The Observer: a suede and leather travel jacket designed for a modern life in motion.

Unveiled at Pitti Uomo on June 16th, the piece marks a resolutely international extension of Valstar’s outerwear heritage, reimagining theclassic bomber silhouette through the lens of travel, utility and real-life testing.

Born from a long-standing friendship and developed over more than a year by Luigi Fila, Valstar’s Creative Director, and Robert Spangle, reporter and founder of The Observer, the jacket was conceived as the ultimate go-to piece: elegant enough for a meeting, comfortable enough for a long
flight, functional enough for complete freedom of movement, and reliable enough for life on the road.

The design integrates supple suede sleeves and discreet technical details into a refined Valstar silhouette. A hidden pocket pleat increasesrange of motion without altering the line of the jacket, while a rear action pleat brings added flexibility and comfort, whether worn alone in spring or layered in winter. Light, supple suede brings softness and ease, preserving the luxurious feel of the garment while supporting real mobility.

Rather than leaning into overt utility, the collaboration keeps function quiet and precise. The result is not a jacket overloaded with pockets or technical codes, but a clean, masculine piece built to move naturally across worlds — from fashion to travel, from business dinners to assignments in the field.

Tested on the ground in Ukraine and across the world, from Milan and Paris to the US, Prague and Seville, the jacket reflects The Observer’s own rhythm: constantly moving, crossing contexts, and seeking clothes that can follow without compromise.
